For decades, The Job Forum, sponsored by the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, has helped Bay Area job seekers find career direction, build connections and prepare for how to land their next job opportunity.

Now, The Job Forum’s work supporting military veterans and spouses is receiving recognition through Google Veteran Impact Award from Google.org and the Google Vet Net program.

The Job Forum announced that it is delighted to be named a recipient of a 2026 Google Veteran Impact Award. This recognition honors organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to supporting the transition, well-being, and career success of the U.S. veteran and military family community.

Janet Beach, Executive Director of The Job Forum, received the award from Google on behalf of the nonprofit and addressed the Fleet Week crowd, speaking at the Google San Francisco award ceremony about the value of work in our communities and in our lives.

The award recognition brings attention to The Job Forum, and to The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce support of the nonprofit, where experienced business volunteers assist job hunters to navigate the difficult job-hunting environment.

In the case of veterans, The Job Forum volunteers assist them in addressing the additional challenge of making a successful transition into civilian employment.

Recently, in support of the military job hunters, The Job Forum participated with Google at a special Mentoring Program during Fleet Week and a week later, hosted a Job Forum Veterans Career Fair.

Participating companies at The Job Forum’s Veteran’s Career Fair for military job hunters included Alaska Airlines/Hawaiian Airlines, PwC, Lumen Technologies, Deloitte, UCSF, New York Life Insurance, N Power, Farmers Insurance, Fuse Global, America Works, and Google.

The Job Forum offers weekly 1 to 1 advising sessions for veterans and spouses and offers special events such as Business Veteran Career Fairs and welcomes military and spouses at all Job Forum skill- building and industry speaker panel events.

For the military job hunters, veterans must explain their military experience in terms civilian employers understand, explore relevant career paths within industry, where their experience will be applicable, and build a civilian professional network of professional connections who can assist them and strengthen their job search efforts. The Job Forum assists them to achieve all this.

Many Bay Area companies have Veteran Employee Resource Groups (ERG’s) and these organizations are a good way for more Bay Area companies, including members of The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, to sponsor The Job Forum and participate on the veteran programs. In this way more folks can become involved directly in supporting military job hunters.

For sponsoring employers, The Job Forum program offers the opportunity to provide advice, mentoring, encouragement and to recognize and hire people with the military leadership training, technical skills and practical experience which veterans bring to organizations.

The Job Forum welcomes employers, volunteer advisors and sponsors who want to help more Job hunters and more veterans connect with civilian career opportunities.
