SF Chamber President Rodney Fong’s Statement on the Mayor’s Budget Proposal

“Today Mayor Breed announced her budget proposal which allocates funds to the city and the Chambers greatest priorities – housing, homelessness, behavioral health, small business, transportation and clean streets. The Mayor understands these are the most critical areas for our city to ensure equity, opportunity, and quality of life for all who live and work in San Francisco.  It’s also the biggest budget in the city’s history, growing by $1.2 billion to a total of $12.3 billion. As we potentially face several new tax measures from the Board of Supervisors for the upcoming ballot, it’s important to pause and recognize the vast investment the city is already making in essential programs. We should question whether instead of more money, we need greater accountability for how that money is actually spent.”
