SAN FRANCISCO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
& THE APEC INNOVATION ZONE AT CITY HALL
During the week of APEC, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with San Francisco Mayor London Breed, hosted over a thousand global media for an immersive and innovative arts experience. Blending the enchanting with the groundbreaking, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce proudly accepted the Mayor’s invitation to join the Media Reception at City Hall. Aligning with the Mayor’s “City of Firsts” theme, during the Media Reception, the Chamber and presenting sponsor Deloitte unveiled the Innovation Zone – a space designed to celebrate and highlight San Francisco’s vibrant culture of pioneering innovations and sustainable solutions.
Rodney Fong, President & CEO, of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, stated, “APEC gives San Francisco a unique opportunity to showcase the best of our city on the world stage, including our culture of innovation, groundbreaking strides in sustainability, and natural beauty. The Innovation Zone has curated an experience that goes beyond words, inviting the world to witness firsthand the ingenuity that San Francisco has to offer.”
“We’re pleased to spotlight the Top Innovators from the Yes SF, Urban Sustainability Challenge in the Innovation Zone and their efforts to help revitalize downtown San Francisco, helping transform it into a more sustainable and vibrant place to live and work,” said Kirsten Rhodes, San Francisco managing principal, Deloitte LLP. “The mission of the UpLink Challenge aligns with Deloitte’s commitment to building more equitable futures and we look forward to the impact this can have in San Francisco and other cities that replicate this approach to urban sustainability.”
The Chamber’s deliberate partnership with the local non-profit Immersive Arts Alliance supports and showcases the ambitious work of diverse artists and creative communities. This partnership is rooted in a shared commitment to elevate the innovative voices of the Bay Area – those at the forefront of blending technology and creativity to solve complex challenges.
“The Chamber has found a unique and creative way to present and highlight, for a global audience, the entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystem of San Francisco that Nixon Peabody has been advising and supporting for over 100 years,” said David Kaufman, Director of Global Strategies, Nixon Peabody LLP.
As part of this visionary endeavor, the Innovation Zone presented an immersive art installation that guided viewers through a narrative of San Francisco’s storied past, its dynamic present, and a forward-looking vision of sustainability. Featured innovations included carbon removal technology from Charm Industrial and Heirloom, water recycling solutions by Epic Cleantec, advancements in electric vehicle charging software from WeaveGrid, satellite technology from Astranis, and groundbreaking initiatives from sustainable innovators as part of the Yes SF Urban Sustainability Challenge.
The Innovation Zone was presented by Deloitte, Nixon Peabody, Bank of America, Visa, UCSF, Astranis, and David Perry & Associates.
