Small businesses are the backbone of the San Francisco economy, and the Chamber is a champion of small business. The Small Business Committee (SBC) is the small business voice of the Chamber designed to celebrate and support local, small business in San Francisco.
Meet Your Chairs:
Gwen Kaplan is one of the country’s foremost authorities on direct marketing. She is a successful entrepreneur, university lecturer, and active community leader throughout the Bay Area. She founded Ace Mailing, a full-service direct marketing company, in 1977 and since then has been honored with many awards including the Small Business Advocate of the Year and the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year.
Jude is the Founder of Jackson Square Insurance Associates Inc, a commercial insurance brokerage dedicated to helping the small business owner. Jude has been involved in the small business community for 12 years as part of the Chamber’s SBC, as a volunteer advisor to Pacific Community Ventures , SCORE and other groups that help entrepreneur’s grow their businesses.
What is the Small Business Committee?
The Small Business Committee is your space to network, access resources, and discuss issues pertinent to the vitality of small businesses in San Francisco. The SBC meets monthly to discuss small business issues, upcoming small business-focused events and activities with the Chamber, and opportunities for engagement.
Meetings may include:
- Panel presentations
- Networking opportunities
- Public Policy updates
- Presentations by city or government staff
- Shop Local initiatives
