Chamber Voices Support for CA Motion Picture Industry

The Chamber and its foundation partner the San Francisco Center for Economic Development (SFCED) urged lawmakers to support AB 1839, a bill that would expand the California Film Commission’s motion picture and television production tax credit and extend it for five more years. “The current program, which has added more than $4 billion to the California economy, is no longer competitive with other states,” said Dennis Conaghan, Executive Director, SFCED. “By expanding these incentives, California can adapt to the changing motion picture industry, and bring home the jobs created by these projects.” The Chamber and SFCED have long-supported the motion picture industry, including backing San Francisco’s film rebate program, “Scene in San Francisco,” which awarded $2.5 million in rebates to productions and added more than $44.2 million to the local economy.
