Chamber partners received expert guidance on San Francisco’s Health Care Security Ordinance (HCSO) at the March Public Policy Forum Tuesday. The panel, which discussed solutions for properly covering employees and how to navigate changes in regulations around Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs), featured John Engers, Benefits Consultant and Attorney with Filice Insurance; Paul Foery, Health Care Reform Specialist with Insperity Insurance; Susan Shargel, President, Shargel & Co. Insurance Services; and Micah Weinberg, PhD, CEO, Healthy Systems Project and Senior Fellow at the Bay Area Council Economic Institute. “Compliance with both federal and local laws is a moving target,” said Jim Lazarus, Senior Vice President of Public Policy at the Chamber. “The Chamber will continue to work with employers on this complicated issue.” Businesses are required to submit the HCSO Annual Reporting Form by April 30, 2014.
