Formula Retail Employer Requirement Ordinances passed their first reading at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. The ordinances require Formula Retail businesses to provide schedules to their workers two weeks ahead of time, and give part time workers priority access to extra hours before the hiring of new workers. There is concern that the expansive legislation has not been thoroughly vetted, with some businesses added to the legislation just over the last few days, and would severely limit retailers ability to react to changes in the market. The ordinance will have its second vote next Tuesday, and if it passes will go to the Mayor for signing.
