The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, the city’s largest and most vibrant business network, applauds Mayor Ed Lee’s decision not to sign legislation that regulates hiring and staffing practices of certain employers.
“In his message to the Board of Supervisors, the Mayor called for an inclusive dialogue that involves not only workers’ rights groups but impacted retailers,” said Bob Linscheid, Chamber of Commerce President and CEO. “That is precisely what we have called for in the news media and in our conversations with the Board of Supervisors.”
Linscheid said the Chamber will work closely with the Mayor’s Office, Board of Supervisors, workers’ groups, unions and other stakeholders to amend the legislation before it takes effect next summer in a way that recognizes “one size does not fit all” employers.
“Our door is open and we look forward to a process that recognizes inclusiveness,” Linscheid said.
