“Ban the Box” Begins August 13

The Chamber-supported Fair Hire Ordinance, which prohibits employers from asking job applicants about their criminal histories until after the first interview, goes into effect for private employers on August 13. The “ban the box” ordinance, as it is commonly known, restricts the types of criminal offenses about which employers and contractors may inquire about when making hiring and personnel decisions.
