Open to Chamber members and non-members alike, this program is run by the volunteer efforts of Chamber members. This regular noontime meeting – held at the Chamber offices the second Thursday of each month - draws individuals from the San Francisco area’s rich diversity of businesses, professions, religions, philosophies, and spiritual paths. There is no fee to attend. There are no pre-scheduled speakers and no specific topics set in advance, so everyone who attends has the opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas and questions. The meeting begins with a few minutes of silence, followed by brief introductions. Each month, an interesting and thought provoking discussion unfolds based on the interests and ideas of those who have shown up for that day’s meeting. Many who attend say they return to work renewed, refreshed, and with a different perspective. Featured in "Megatrends 2010: The Rise of Conscious Capitalism", by Patricia Aburdene, this brown bag meeting is highlighted in the coverage of “seven trends that will transform how you work, live and invest”. The chapter devoted to the fourth trend, “Spirituality in Business”, begins with a description of this meeting, then ends with several pages on what makes it so successful, and how others might take this model and replicate it where they live and work.
